Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sydney, the lost 0.29%.

The best performers of the session on the were Zip Co Ltd (ASX:), which rose 8.00% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.41 at the close. Meanwhile, Healius Ltd (ASX:) added 6.76% or 0.13 points to end at 1.98 and Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:) was up 5.26% or 0.02 points to 0.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX:), which fell 3.42% or 0.13 points to trade at 3.67 at the close. Whitehaven Coal Ltd (ASX:) declined 3.00% or 0.21 points to end at 6.80 and CSR Ltd (ASX:) was down 2.59% or 0.15 points to 5.65.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 588 to 481 and 353 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.14% to 12.54.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.52% or 10.25 to $1,978.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.45% or 0.36 to hit $80.46 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.43 to trade at $84.75 a barrel.

AUD/USD was down 0.88% to 0.64, while AUD/JPY fell 0.75% to 96.65.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 105.25.
