Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the added 0.09% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index gained 0.06%.

The best performers of the session on the were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:), which rose 3.21% or 34.55 points to trade at 1,109.30 at the close. Meanwhile, HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) added 2.86% or 14.80 points to end at 531.85 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.69% or 84.15 points to 3,212.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Infosys Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.74% or 39.10 points to trade at 1,389.20 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) declined 2.08% or 23.05 points to end at 1,086.85 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) was down 2.07% or 22.65 points to 1,071.85.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.15% to 1,108.90, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.74% to settle at 231.15 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.62% to close at 864.60.

The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.79% to 1,388.60 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.13% to settle at 1,086.50 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.09% to 1,071.85 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1027 to 890 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1851 rose and 1520 declined, while 115 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.97% to 11.91.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.76% or 15.45 to $2,040.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.50% or 0.42 to hit $82.84 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.51 to trade at $86.82 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.16% to 81.84, while EUR/INR rose 0.15% to 90.17.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 101.03.
