India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.94%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the rose 0.94%, while the index climbed 0.86%.
The best performers of the session on the were NTPC Ltd (NS:), which rose 4.72% or 10.40 points to trade at 230.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) added 4.36% or 7.60 points to end at 181.75 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) was up 3.51% or 27.35 points to 807.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cipla Ltd. (NS:), which fell 0.97% or 12.20 points to trade at 1,245.40 at the close. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) declined 0.53% or 3.40 points to end at 641.35 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) was down 0.52% or 29.30 points to 5,578.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:) which rose 4.84% to 230.60, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was up 3.33% to settle at 127.10 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which gained 3.24% to close at 10,331.80.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.67% to 5,578.20 in late trade, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) which lost 0.50% to settle at 8,273.20 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.34% to 1,108.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1231 to 795 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2064 rose and 1457 declined, while 121 ended unchanged.
Shares in NTPC Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.72% or 10.40 to 230.70. Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.36% or 7.60 to 181.75. Shares in NTPC Ltd (BO:) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.84% or 10.65 to 230.60. Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.33% or 4.10 to 127.10. Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) rose to all time highs; up 3.24% or 324.70 to 10,331.80.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.78% to 11.36.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.23% or 4.45 to $1,970.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.23% or 1.03 to hit $84.66 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.22% or 1.06 to trade at $87.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.04% to 82.72, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 89.71.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 103.55.
