Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the fell 0.42% to hit a new 3-months low, while the index fell 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the were ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:), which rose 1.99% or 16.70 points to trade at 856.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:) added 1.93% or 4.15 points to end at 219.20 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.69% or 28.65 points to 1,725.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which fell 9.28% or 122.15 points to trade at 1,193.50 at the close. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:) declined 5.32% or 205.00 points to end at 3,644.95 and UPL Ltd (NS:) was down 4.06% or 30.00 points to 708.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.02% to 219.35, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.99% to settle at 856.40 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.69% to close at 1,725.95.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.37% to 106.10 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.71% to settle at 1,509.40 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.01% to 3,331.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1537 to 423 and 37 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2500 fell and 919 advanced, while 182 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.28% or 122.15 to 1,193.50.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.19% to 13.88.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.06% or 1.05 to $1,816.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.20% or 0.15 to hit $76.17 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.24 to trade at $82.58 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 82.83, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 87.48.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 105.06.
