Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the lost 0.56%, while the index fell 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the were Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:), which rose 2.55% or 72.20 points to trade at 2,902.00 at the close. Meanwhile, UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:) added 1.62% or 118.20 points to end at 7,416.05 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) was up 1.40% or 15.80 points to 1,145.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cipla Ltd. (NS:), which fell 6.02% or 61.75 points to trade at 964.00 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:) declined 5.88% or 101.25 points to end at 1,621.45 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:) was down 1.90% or 86.25 points to 4,447.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.75% to 7,426.80, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.35% to settle at 1,144.10 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.91% to close at 215.70.
The worst performers were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.33% to 2,655.20 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.33% to settle at 8,690.35 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.26% to 1,737.25 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1245 to 682 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2088 fell and 1357 advanced, while 163 ended unchanged.
Shares in UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.62% or 118.20 to 7,416.05. Shares in UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.75% or 127.40 to 7,426.80.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.27% to 13.38.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.16% or 2.95 to $1,853.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.84% or 0.64 to hit $77.19 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.68 to trade at $83.68 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 82.72, while EUR/INR fell 0.11% to 88.40.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 103.81.
