Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the lost 0.69%, while the index fell 0.75%.

The best performers of the session on the were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:), which rose 4.82% or 321.45 points to trade at 6,986.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:) added 2.41% or 70.60 points to end at 3,003.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.62% or 25.55 points to 1,601.15 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:), which fell 3.88% or 23.95 points to trade at 593.05 at the close. JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) declined 3.77% or 32.80 points to end at 837.40 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:) was down 3.04% or 4.25 points to 135.35.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which rose 1.69% to 1,601.60, ITC Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.52% to settle at 477.30 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.15% to close at 1,033.70.

The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.05% to 135.30 in late trade, LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.97% to settle at 5,960.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.92% to 1,490.20 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1200 to 922 and 49 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2127 rose and 1571 declined, while 106 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; rising 4.82% or 321.45 to 6,986.50.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.31% to 14.10.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.59% or 12.30 to $2,061.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.51% or 0.36 to hit $70.02 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.28 to trade at $75.61 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.03% to 83.29, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 91.04.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 102.09.
