Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the declined 0.80%, while the index fell 0.85%.

The best performers of the session on the were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:), which rose 1.74% or 14.25 points to trade at 832.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) added 1.43% or 18.25 points to end at 1,292.60 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) was up 1.10% or 61.95 points to 5,677.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.89% or 28.55 points to trade at 958.60 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) declined 2.88% or 47.10 points to end at 1,586.90 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:) was down 2.46% or 30.55 points to 1,209.15.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.46% to 1,292.85, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.32% to settle at 5,685.00 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which gained 0.83% to close at 3,242.35.

The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was down 3.08% to 1,583.80 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.81% to settle at 959.35 and State Bank Of India (BO:) which was down 2.12% to 588.30 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1400 to 627 and 47 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2224 fell and 1294 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.79% to 10.82.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.10% or 21.65 to $1,945.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.89% or 0.80 to hit $88.86 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.85 to trade at $92.68 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.06% to 83.01, while EUR/INR fell 0.10% to 88.46.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 105.15.
