Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the lost 0.97%, while the index fell 1.00%.
The best performers of the session on the were State Bank Of India (NS:), which rose 3.60% or 24.30 points to trade at 699.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:) added 3.08% or 8.25 points to end at 276.20 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:) was up 3.06% or 18.45 points to 620.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:), which fell 3.99% or 202.70 points to trade at 4,875.55 at the close. ITC Ltd (NS:) declined 3.99% or 17.25 points to end at 414.55 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:) was down 3.51% or 62.90 points to 1,729.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:) which rose 3.55% to 699.50, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which was up 3.00% to settle at 276.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.29% to close at 4,135.95.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.98% to 414.70 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 3.49% to settle at 1,730.85 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.03% to 992.75 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1331 to 827 and 28 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2085 fell and 1608 advanced, while 100 ended unchanged.
Shares in State Bank Of India (NS:) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.60% or 24.30 to 699.55. Shares in Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:) rose to all time highs; up 3.06% or 18.45 to 620.50. Shares in State Bank Of India (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 3.55% or 24.00 to 699.50. Shares in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 1.29% or 52.75 to 4,135.95.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.08% to 15.83.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.08% or 1.65 to $2,053.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.50% or 0.37 to hit $74.23 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.48 to trade at $79.69 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 82.97, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 89.45.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 103.92.
