U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.67% By Investing.com
Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the rose 0.67% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:), which rose 8.77% or 29.90 points to trade at 371.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Melrose Industries PLC (LON:) added 4.01% or 17.30 points to end at 448.80 and Informa PLC (LON:) was up 3.93% or 31.80 points to 841.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mondi PLC (LON:), which fell 7.45% or 103.50 points to trade at 1,286.50 at the close. Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:) declined 2.14% or 73.00 points to end at 3,340.00 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:) was down 1.85% or 20.50 points to 1,085.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1031 to 745 and 688 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.58% or 15.65 to $2,706.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $70.39 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.10 to trade at $74.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 103.61.
