Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the lost 0.68%, while the index climbed 0.08%, and the index added 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the were Nike Inc (NYSE:), which rose 5.74% or 6.13 points to trade at 112.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) added 4.92% or 1.67 points to end at 35.58 and Walmart Inc (NYSE:) was up 1.04% or 1.61 points to 156.91 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:), which fell 6.35% or 31.20 points to trade at 460.11 at the close. Boeing Co (NYSE:) declined 1.58% or 3.48 points to end at 216.90 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) was down 1.49% or 1.40 points to 92.45.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Nike Inc (NYSE:) which rose 5.74% to 112.91, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was up 4.92% to settle at 35.58 and NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which gained 4.81% to close at 429.97.
The worst performers were Humana Inc (NYSE:) which was down 11.26% to 454.91 in late trade, CVS Health Corp (NYSE:) which lost 7.78% to settle at 66.64 and Centene Corp (NYSE:) which was down 6.95% to 64.64 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were DatChat Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 89.84% to 0.82, WeTrade Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 70.73% to settle at 14.41 and Blue Water Vaccines Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 62.03% to close at 1.28.
The worst performers were Tenon Medical Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 52.91% to 0.29 in late trade, Advanced Human Imaging Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) which lost 41.33% to settle at 0.88 and IperionX Limited ADR (NASDAQ:) which was down 36.11% to 8.44 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1800 to 1162 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2312 fell and 1224 advanced, while 141 ended unchanged.
Shares in CVS Health Corp (NYSE:) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.78% or 5.62 to 66.64. Shares in NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; rising 4.81% or 19.75 to 429.97. Shares in Walmart Inc (NYSE:) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.04% or 1.61 to 156.91. Shares in Tenon Medical Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 52.91% or 0.33 to 0.29.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 5.00% to 13.88.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.06% or 1.25 to $1,957.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.08% or 0.75 to hit $68.67 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.71 to trade at $73.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.08, while USD/JPY fell 0.18% to 139.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 102.55.
